2025 Audition Information
Audition Dates:
In-person auditions will be conducted on January 18th from 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Additional times may be added if necessary. You may alternatively submit a video audition before
January 18th at 11:00 a.m.
Following auditions, soloists will be selected and announced by January 25th.
Audition Requirements:
Repertoire: Participants may audition as soloists or in small ensembles. If proposing a concerto, the soloist(s) must provide the full score for the symphony if it is not available through the IMSLP website. The score must be distributed to symphony members before rehearsals.
Accompaniment: You may perform with West Jordan Symphony, your own accompanist, or without accompaniment if the piece doesn’t require it.
Note on Orchestral Accompaniment: If you are requesting orchestral accompaniment, please be aware that the director will review your submitted piece to determine if it is suitable for the symphony to accompany. If it is decided that the symphony cannot accommodate the piece, the director will contact you to discuss alternate options, such as providing piano accompaniment or selecting a different piece. This policy typically applies to concertos.
Eligibility: Open to instrumentalists of all ages. Both seasoned musicians and emerging talents are welcome to audition.
Performance Type: Classical, contemporary, or other genres suitable for optional orchestral accompaniment.
Audition Material: Prepare one or two contrasting pieces that showcase your technical and musical abilities. For ensembles, select a repertoire that reflects your group's strengths. The final performance time of the selected piece should not exceed 10 minutes.
Feel free to bring a piano accompanist or an audio backing track, if preferred. A Bluetooth speaker will be available.
Audition Length: Each audition will be approximately 10 minutes long.
